I will attempt here to describe the best procedure, which we lived, my husband and me in September 2005.
First, as mentioned earlier Direct Consular Filing, addresses the french and french living in France (and of course married to a citizen is American / e), seeking to obtain a green card or "Immediate Relative visa ". (it is possible that this applies to people residing in other countries this is to do with the consulate of the country concerned)
The procedure is very similar to that detailed previously, I will not describe here that the details.
To apply at the consulate, you must go to Paris, and Paris only, on Fridays from 9am to 12pm. This procedure being very popular if you just province on purpose, I strongly advise you to like us, we went there at 7am and we waited in line. it was first, with very little, but at least it allowed us to be moving on. Not arrived at the consulate at 11:30 with the hope that someone ... is not even worth a try .. Especially with the problems of passport / visa related to tourists today.
Some tips: Take
you are ahead ... This procedure is, thanks god, usa conmparativement relativemetn short, but it takes a little work. Go get the folder with the necessary forms, or if necessary, download the Internet. (The link is located at the bottom of page)
You'll need several documents:
- Form I-130 Petition for Alien Relative
- Birth certificates older than 3 months for french citizen, 6 months for the U.S. citizen (or a passport I think)
- format Photos American ( details here) The consulate has a list of Photographers possible in some of the consulate and owns a photo booth in his special place. I think it costs 4 euros.
- Marriage Certificate
- Forms G325-A (BioGraphic data sheet) and sundry (4 similar pages each)
- Form I-864 Affidavit of Support (notarized), Tax Refunds accompanies the last three years for a U.S. citizen. It will prove that in this way can you "maintain" pay equals or exceeds about $ 17,000 or more depending on the situation.
- criminal records of all countries in which you reside more than 12 months
- Passport
- Envelope Chronopost 2lbs (inflatable)
- The results of medical examinations
- There are other documents I think (one on military service for men) that I will add later.
- a credit card of $ o $ .. payment in card was actually quite easy for me.
In general, I do not think you need a lawyer. Most people are doing very well by itself for this application.
I faced some difficulties regarding my situation sometimes a bit peculiar, and I always find answers, it asks certainly work ...
aware, however, that Mr. Werner, the mfe forum has been very useful source of information. Having said that before asking questions, do a little preliminary work, he spends a lot of time on the forum, it is always meiux have a specific question and documents to obtain a precise answer.
